Just Rickenbackers

Timelines

4001 Basses Throughout the years, Rickenbacker altered elements of the dual pickup 4000 bass known as the 4001. There were periods of very few changes and then there were some years that were particularly adventurous with modifications, alterations, or simply sourcing parts differently. This timeline is for your benefit to see how this model changed over the years. It is fun to witness these changes and someday, you, yes you, can spot exactly which era a 4001 was from purely from examining it's design. Please note this is the "deluxe" version of the 4001, and not a study of the 4001S variant.
4003 Basses As the world began using high tension roundwound strings on their basses, Rickenbacker improved their bass design and released it as the "4003." It gradually replaced the 4001 for it's first few years and now is one of their most popular instruments. The model has evolved a little bit over the years and what's most fascinating is how it gradually took on 4001-like features, yet maintained it's durability and use of modern technology.
Colors and Finishes Though Rickenbacker has had 3 staple "evergreen" finishes for decades, there have been several other colors and finishes throughout the years. With the first guitars in 1954, Blonde was the standard finish and throughout the 2000's, a "Color of the Year" theme produced some very dazzling and fun options for consumers.
Rickenbacker Milestones Rickenbacker has been around a while and contains a rich history. This timeline focuses on significant events throughout its existence, from the invention of the horseshoe pickup, to John Lennon purchasing his first Rickenbacker, to the release of the 90th anniversary bass and guitars.
