Sporting the highly coveted features checkered binding, gap-tooth aluminum cast tailpiece, crushed pearl inlays, wavy Grover tuners, and 1/2" neck pickup location. This bass has been a critical component of this collection anchoring down a real classic instrument rather than a reproduction. The aluminum tailpiece was recently re-chromed by a triple plating process, ensuring long term durability. The harness was recently verified by AceOnBassWorks to be period correct. Condition-wise, it's been played and loved, as it should over the course of it's 51 years of age! Some nicks, dings, backside of course has some belt rash. There is an area of the underside of the neck near the 2nd-3rd fret where the fingerboard and/or neck may have been splitting earlier in life; coupled with the fact it has brand new looking hairpin truss rods indicates quite possibly that a truss rod adjustment went wrong at some point in those 51 years. However, it's a rock solid repair and is hardly noticeable to the public eye. The frets are original and for certain worn, however they are not pitted (fairly certain it has had a fret leveling not too long ago) and paired with a straight neck, there is life left with these original frets if taken care of properly. IT is also equipped with the original Wavy grovers which have been verified as either repaired or steady without any concerns of near term "explosions" happening to them, a common phenomenon for these box-backed accident prone tuners. The bass comes with a Fender style 70's hard case. The bass sounds as beautiful as it looks--grit, grunt, and audible bliss. This bass will turn heads not just for it's looks, but for its striking classic tone.
